Backpacking: the whole journey as a map

Maplapse turns the photos from a long backpacking trip into a map with every stop, across borders and in the order you got there. There is nothing to log on the way, because the map is built from your library once you are back.

Months away, one trip

Maplapse keeps a long journey together if you set a generous break after which a new trip begins; the default is two months. With “Photo break up to X days”, a break up to that length does not split the trip even when photos from home land in your library meanwhile, for instance from family in a shared library. You find both values in Settings under “Travel behaviour”.

Search by country

Maplapse search finds every stop in a country: type “France”, for example, and Maplapse offers the country. Take it, and the map highlights the stops there, while the “Trips” and “Places” lists follow the filter. Set several filters and anything that matches one of them counts as a hit. You can search for a place or a year in just the same way.

Screenshots and photos from messengers

Not every photo from a long trip is a travel photo: screenshots of tickets or boarding passes can be hidden in Maplapse without being deleted. Photos your travel companions sent you by messenger arrive without a location. With Maplapse Pro you give them the location of a stop from the same time, and they appear on the map.

Show the trip to people at home

You share a single trip as a link, with family or friends at home for example. Three links are free without Pro, and with Pro there is no limit. Whoever opens the link sees the trip as a slideshow with the photos and your notes, and needs only the free app to do so. To make this work, Maplapse uploads downscaled copies of that trip's photos to your own iCloud, and anyone holding the link can view them.
