Your cycling tour as a map from your photos
Maplapse retraces a cycling tour from your photos after the fact, with no recording to start on the way. If you take photos in lots of places in a day, you decide how finely Maplapse turns them into stops.
Many places in one day
How many stops a day in the saddle produces in Maplapse comes down to the radius at the top of the map. A smaller value turns places that lie close together into stops of their own, while a larger one condenses a day into a few stops. Drag the slider and the map rearranges straight away.
Every night a stop of its own
With “Overnight stops” under Settings › “Travel behaviour”, Maplapse gives every overnight stay its own stop, even when two places you slept are closer together than the radius. Maplapse recognises the nights from the times of your photos. The switch is off by default.
What the line shows, and what it doesn't
Maplapse joins your stops in time order with straight lines. It does not know the road you actually rode, because it only analyses where your photos were taken and records nothing on the way. Instead, the detail zoom inside a stop shows the individual spots where you took photos, separated from 500 m apart or, if you prefer, from 250 m.
Photos from a camera without GPS (Pro)
Photos from a camera without location do not reach the map in Maplapse at first. With Maplapse Pro, Maplapse shows you which location-less photos fit a stop in time, and you give them the location of a photo you took there with your iPhone. The location is written into the photo itself, and “Undo location” removes it again.
